Market Live Update: Sensex climbs over 1000 points at open; Nifty rises by 300 points

Equity benchmark Sensex surged over 1,000 points in opening session led by gains in banking, auto, healthcare, Oil&Gas and IT stocks.

Positive cues from the global markets too enthused investor sentiment here.

The 30-share BSE barometer registered 976.72 points or 3.19 per cent higher at 31,579.23.Similarly, the NSE Nifty zoomed 277.45 points, or 3.10 per cent, to 9,270.25.

IndusInd Bank was the top gainer in the Sensex pack, rallying up to 6 per cent, to Rs 461.70 on the NSE, followed by Axis Bank, which was up 5.90% to Rs 447.60, HDFC, by 5.80%, to Rs 1,720.35 and Bajaj Finance, up by 4.87%, to Rs 2,328.10.
